ESPN's Erin Andrews on Michigan Stadium: "I'm hoping it's actually loud for once"
ESPN reporter Erin Andrews has worked at Michigan Stadium before and found herself "amazed at how quiet it is."
She and the ESPN College GameDay crew, in town for a live broadcast preceding the Michigan-Notre Dame game, are more accustomed to rowdy night crowds. While talking with local media Friday, Andrews said she finds the anticipation of the inaugural night game at Michigan Stadium pretty funny, and that she''s "hoping it's actually loud for once."

Yeah, I've been told to sit down on more than one occasion at the Big House. I've even been yelled at for being too noisy. Really? Too many fans like that are the problem with the noise level at the Big House more so than the design of the stadium. We need rowdy, loud, into the game fans that actually create a home field advantage for the team on the field. Those fans that want to sit down in a quiet atmosphere and relax while quietly enjoying the game would do everyone a favor by staying home and watching the game from their couch...as I've ever so politely told them when they've told me to sit down and be quiet.

Yeah Don, but in order to be 30% louder we have to first be yelling. That's the problem with the crowds, they're loud in the start of the game and at key plays, but there's no roar like you see at the other big schools. The student sections biggest contribution is usually just a dozen or so Waves around the stadium, no energy. Ive actually been asked to sit down in the season ticket area around the 30yl.

I have seen it written that Michigan Stadium is now "30% louder," but I do not know where that number came from or its accuracy. Still, I believe it true that the new additions were designed to capture and enhance the crowd noise.

Don the 30% louder came from sound engineers after the renovations took place, the 2 towers(press box/suites) are on a slight angle leaning towards the field, thus keeping the sound in the stadium ..
