Fresh off of signing a rookie contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Denard Robinson was back in Ann Arbor on Wednesday. Hundreds of fans turned out to the M Den, located at 303 South Street, where the former Michigan quarterback was signing autographs along with former teammates Jordan Kovacs and Mike Martin and member of Michigan's 1997 national championship team, Marcus Ray.

DR had some great moments. If by some chance Bo had DR on one of his teams I wonder if Bo would have used DR at QB . I think running back or WR.

Probably depends if it was pre- or post- John Wangler & Anthony Carter. After them, it was mostly - but not totally - pro offense. WR very likely. RB a possibility. Earlier, when the option offense ruled, I am sure he would have had DR as his QB.

Kyle, I went to a Barbecue RR had for players and selected people in May of 2009, and Denard showed up at the door of the weight room after everyone had left and I was talking to someone by the exit gate. I went up to the door and asked RR if it was okay that he signed my football, and RR said, "Oh, you're going to want to get his, he's going to be a good one". It was great to get one (the ?) of the first autographs from DR, as I don't like standing in lines !

This gallery got me wondering, what autograph do you have that is/was most valuable to you? It is sort of interesting to think about the valuation of autographs and how everyone seems to have their niche area of interest and will sometimes wait hours for just a brief encounter with someone they admire. That it goes for every age group too be it children hunting down characters at Disney amusement parks, sports fans hoping to get a ball signed, teens screaming when meeting their favorite musician, and bookworms getting the name of their favorite author inside a new-release.

*latter categories, not letter categories.

The ones you got when you were a little kid, and waited in line and actually saw them in person at the ball park / hockey rink etc where they played. When you got their autograph because you were a kid standing outside the locker room wanting one; and they were happy to do it for you. Not the ones you got when you were older and went to an autograph signing party. Not the ones you inherited or acquired by marriage; or were bought for you. Not that I don't have several autographs of the letter categories that I love to have. It's just that the first category I cherish.

The only time I've ever waited in line for an autograph was about ten years ago and it was for author David Sedaris. We chatted for a moment and he asked what I did for a living. I told him I was a photographer (I had been at the reading to take his photo) and he stated, without hesitation, that he hated having his picture taken. I laughed him off thinking he was playing around until I got back to my office and read the inscription written in two of the books. Book one: Dear Melanie, I hate having my picture taken, David Sedaris. Book two: I mean, I really, really hate having my picture taken, David Sedaris. I'll probably always wonder if I offended one of my favorite authors? :)

Great to see these players signing autographs, as well as interacting with their eager fans. It's a happy story. Thank you for the photo gallery.
