Braylon Edwards, two others involved in Birmingham bar brawl
This article was updated to reflect that the men involved in the brawl are not related to Braylon Edwards.
Two friends of former Michigan football player Braylon Edwards are being charged with felonious assault after a Birmingham bar brawl on Monday ended with two bouncers stabbed -- one with a pocket knife, another with a fork.
Today, Observer and Eccentric newspapers is reporting that Edwards may have been more directly involved in the incident than originally believed.
Employees at South Bar told the Observer and Eccentric that Edwards was "spurring on his cousins," Tre Lenard Wright, 19, of Detroit, and Edmund Jerrell Wright, 22, of Lathrup Village. Spokesmen for Edwards say the two men are not related to Edwards.
Those employees also told the newspaper that former Michigan basketball player Jalen Rose was also at the bar and tried to break up the fight.
Rose started his 20-day sentence in Oakland County jail for drunk driving the next morning. Edwards pleaded guilty in a New York drunken driving case less than two weeks ago.

I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation. Braylon Edwards probably went to the bar to set a good example and remove his underaged cousin from the bar. He probably lectured him on values and being a good citizen.

Both Jalen and Braylon have smart-alec mouths and I'm sure this attitude got them into trouble with other customers.

Whatever the facts are, just having his name associated with this does not reflect well on Braylon Edwards. None of us knows the facts yet, so let's hold judgment. But, how many times is Braylon going to be associated with trouble before finally avoiding it altogether? Time to do that.

Correction: Time to disassociate Braylon from the "Michigan Man" circle.
