Final score: Michigan 65, Bowling Green 21

Fourth quarter Michigan 65, Bowling Green 21: Freshman quarterback Devin Gardner scored the first touchdown of his career on a 7-yard run. Michigan has 721 yards of total offense with 3:11 left in the game.

Michigan 58, Bowling Green 21: Fitzgerald Toussaint scored on a 6-yard run, one play after racing 61 yards up the middle. Michigan has 657 yards of total offense with 7:52 left in the game. Quarterback Tate Forcier left midway in the drive and is 12-for-12 passing for 110 yards. It's the highest completion percentage in Michigan history for a quarterback with at least 10 passes.

Michigan 51, Bowling Green 21: Vincent Smith scored from 1 yard out, capping a nine-play, 62-yard drive. It was his second touchdown of the day.

Third quarter Michigan 44, Bowling Green 21: Jordan Hopgood scored from 1-yard out on a fourth-down play, taking a direct snap in the Wildcat formation. Hopgood appeared stopped in the backfield, but bounced off the tacklers and found an open late.

Michigan 44, Bowling Green 14: Vincent Smith scored on an 8-yard touchdown run on a two-play, 37-yard drive. The other play: A 14-yard pass from Tate Forcier to Jeremy Gallon. With more than 7 minutes left in the third quarter, Michigan has 501 yards of total offense.

Michigan 37, Bowling Green 14: Fullback John McColgan scored his first career touchdown on his first career reception, a 2-yard pass from Tate Forcier. Michigan covered 51 yards in 10 plays and Forcier is 8-of-8 passing for 68 yards.

Michigan 30, Bowling Green 14: The Falcons botched a snap on a punt try and it rolled through the back of the end zone, giving Michigan a safety.

Second quarter First-half numbers of note: Michigan has 428 yards of total offense, Bowling Green has 164. Michigan starting quarterback Denard Robinson (4-of-4 passing for 60 yards; 5 rushes for 129 yards and two touchdowns) spent much of the second quarter standing on the sideline after injuring a knee on a long run. He appears OK, but it also doesn't seem likely he'll play again today. Michigan has 20 first downs ... Bowling Green has six.

Michigan 28, Bowling Green 14: Michael Shaw bulled into the end zone from 2 yards out. Sophomore quarterback Tate Forcier, in his first action of the season, led the 69-yard, 10-play drive. Forcier was 6-of-6 passing for 45 yards.

Michigan 21, Bowling Green 14: Tyrone Pronty fought through traffic and scored on a 71-yard pass from Aaron Pankratz. A 13-second, one-play drive, and what appeared to be a Michigan blowout in the making is now a tight game.

Michigan 21, Bowling Green 7: Jordan Hopgood scored on a 1-yard run. Bowling Green scored on a 13-play drive that started when Chris Jones recovered a fumble from Michigan's Stephen Hopkins at the Bowling Green 36-yard line.

First quarter Michigan 21, Bowling Green 0: Jeremy Gallon scored on the first reception of his career, an 11-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Devin Gardner. It's also the first touchdown pass for Gardner, in for an injured Denard Robinson. Robinson came up lame after a 47-yard run on the first play of the five-play, 91-yard drive. Robinson was tackled on the sideline in front of the Michigan bench. He tried to stand before taking a knee.

Michigan 14, Bowling Green 0: Denard Robinson, cutting and faking, dodged several Bowling Green defenders to score on a 47-yard run. Michigan needed just five plays to cover 88 yards.

Michigan 7, Bowling Green 0: Sophomore quarterback Denard Robinson scored on a 2-yard run, capping a game-opening, 80-yard, nine-play drive. Michigan picked up five first downs on the drive and Robinson was 2-of-2 passing for 43 yards.

Pregame Brian Griese is on the air: As a veteran sports broadcaster on ABC, Bob Griese spent countless hours cramped in a small booth in the old Michigan Stadium press box.

Brian Griese, his son, is broadcasting his first game from Ann Arbor on ESPN2 and enjoying a little more room.

“My dad was giving me a hard time,” Brian Griese said before the Wolverines kicked off against Bowling Green. “He said, ‘All those years, I came up to announce your games, and I had to sit in that press box, that old dilapidated press box, squeezed in tight.’”

Griese is broadcasting today’s game, along with play-by-play announcer Bob Wischusen. The former Michigan quarterback, who retired after 11 years in the NFL in 2009, was impressed in his return to Michigan Stadium.

“This is great,” he said of the recently completed $226 million renovation. “This is like an NFL press box. It’s pretty cool.”

Anyone who thinks we will easily lose without Denard was at the Michigan State game not the Michigan game. Although Denard is the best quarterback in the country, without him this offence would still be the best offence in the Big Ten. The defense and special teams on the other hand are well below average, and I think everyone knew that before the first game this year.

Indiana has very good offensive talent but there defense is pretty new in terms of starters. There is some defensive talent but they haven't played with each other long enough to be called good. They're more like "barely decent" as of right now but they are making plays. Without Denard we may easily lose despite the play of the other two QB's.

IU has a dynamic offense, which will cause us problems. Of course, any offense will cause us problems! I think Michigan has enough to beat them...42-31.
