After the hype, did Michigan football team's 'legacy' uniforms work?

The first night game at Michigan Stadium is history, and so are the first "legacy" jerseys in Michigan football history.

The Michigan athletic department revealed the one-game uniforms on June 10, put them on sale for fans in August for $80 and wore them Saturday in a 35-31 victory against Notre Dame in front of a record crowd.

So what did you think of the big maize block "M" on the front? Of the small uniform number high on the left side? Of the five stripes on each shoulder?

Take our poll and let us know:

It's about time they did something with those stale uni's As much as most people think there special, their plain and stripes on a helmet is old and boaring. A night game, finally M came to the party, been doing it for over 20 years.

For a special night game with a special tradition, I think the jerseys made an impact. It looked Michigan with a twist of old.

Two thumbs up !! I thought they were very unique ,and unique to Michigan football. Thought the Michigan cheerleaders looked great also in they're legacy outfits.. Something I like even better is the new Song by Pop Evil "In the Big House" they were blasting it over the loud speakers at the Stadium right as the game ended.. Pretty cool song it was up to #4 on the itunes list this month, its getting alot of play nationwide.. The Band is from West Michigan and they are huge Michigan fans.. They produced the song last yr,but in lieu of all the drama and team wasn't doing well,so they decided to bring it out because of the new coaches and the Hoke era. The 4 letter network really liked it and wanted to buy it,or get the rights etc..but the band declined, most of the players dig it,and the University has welcome it also.. Give a listen.. GO BLUE..

The Legacy uniforms did not turn me on one way or another. It seems they worked with many of our fan base. In terms of perception, they work for those who shelled out the $80. For me, wearing all maize would have looked great under the lights because those maize pom-poms sure did. A sea of maized looked really cool on TV. I think that idea worked batter then the throw backs.

Did they "work"? For what? The jersey's made NO difference in the game at all. The only difference they made is in shirt sales and more royalties for the University of Michigan. From a fan's point of view, I prefer having the names on the jersey's also. IMO, I don't think we need gimicks like retro or legacy uniforms to create interest in the team. What does that is success on the football field.

As usual your poll questions leave much to be desired! What about they looked great but I won't buy one!!!! No thought what so ever seems to go into the poll questions!

For the first three quarters, I didn't like them. After the fourth, though, I like them so much I'm going to get one. What a game and the jersey is a pretty cool way to remember it (and make ND fans that see us in it remember the game as well).

I was at the game and after seeing them I had to have one. They were awesome! The best game I ever went to. What a game to remember!

Meh ... whatever. They weren't horrible ... they didn't make me weep with nostalgia.
