Tim Hardaway Jr., Trey Burke take home Big Ten weekly basketball honors
The Michigan basketball team grabbed a pair of weekly honors from the Big Ten Conference on Monday.
Sophomore guard Tim Hardaway Jr. was named the league's Player of the Week and freshman point guard Trey Burke was honored as the conference Freshman of the Week.
Hardaway averaged 20 points, 4.7 rebounds and three assists during Michigan's three-game stay at the 2011 Maui Invitational.
The award was the first of Hardaway's career, and Michigan's first since Darius Morris earned the honor on Jan. 31.
Burke, meanwhile, averaged 12 points, six assists and 2.7 rebounds in Maui, including a career-high 17-point, nine-assist performance against No. 6 Duke.
The last Michigan player to earn the freshman of the week honor was Hardaway, who did so on Feb. 28.
Michigan returns to the court Tuesday at Virginia (7 p.m., ESPN2) as part of the Big Ten-ACC Challenge.
