Michigan hoops recruit Mitch McGary done with visits, will decide within the month
Michigan basketball recruiting target Mitch McGary updated his personal ESPN.com blog early Monday morning, explaining that his official visits are over, and he'd like to have a college decision made within the month.
The 6-foot-10, 250-pound McGary, a consensus top-five player in the class of 2012, has made official visits to Michigan, Duke and North Carolina.
"As far as more visits, I don't think I'll be making any," McGary wrote. "I'm not gonna go to Kentucky's Midnight Madness, I feel I like I have all the information that I need to start to think about a decision.
"Within the next month I hope to have a decision made."
McGary, who is preparing for his final prep season at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, explained that since his visits, Duke has been in to see him the most, followed by Michigan and coach John Beilein.
On Michigan, McGary writes: "I feel like I could really help them and have a strong season there as a freshman. I like the Big Ten because it's known for having blue-collar type players, but the pace tends to be a little slower. I love to go to work in the paint, but I like to get out and run more so with Michigan that's something I'll have to really look at."
On Duke: "Duke has a lot to offer. They've got the Plumlees there, but Miles is a senior and Mason has a really good chance at going pro after this season. Then they've got their younger brother Marshal, who is very, very tall and skilled. I think I could go in there an and make a great duo with Marshall and we could make a lot of noise together. I love that Duke likes to get out in transition and run too. That's a big plus."
Also on Monday, ESPN.com recruiting analyst Dave Telep speculated via Twitter that Michigan could be the favorite for McGary's services at this time.
McGary also discussed the prospects of attending both North Carolina, Maryland and Florida in his blog.

I wouldn't say him going to Duke is a lock. Michigan fits him a lot better than either Duke or North Carolina, considering Michigan's front court is empty and Duke and UNC have plenty of other options. If Michigan can land this kid and keep him for more than a year, the Wolverines basketball team will be very competitive.

Duke players have done sooo well in the NBA. McGary wants to be prepared for the NBA and the skills that Beilein and Alexander will develope in McGary will better serve him in reaching that goal. XTR, the situation is in no way obvious. UofM hoops is on the rise. A McGary commitment makes Michigan an instant final four contender.

LOL! This kid is playing around. The decision is too obvious! This kid is 99% DUKE! Michigan does not match anything Duke can offer in Basketball except for the 1% reason and that is playing time. This kid will go to Duke, not unless he will sit 2 years before he plays, if that happens, then he will go to Michigan for a sure starter job. lol Kids now are really shrewd and smart.
