As the Michigan basketball team has played its way onto the NCAA tournament bubble, much of it has been due to the play of Michigan freshman guard Tim Hardaway Jr.

For the third straight week, the Miami native was named the Big Ten's Freshman of the Week.

Hardaway averaged 19 points, 3.5 assists and two rebounds in a loss to Wisconsin and a win over Minnesota last week. He shot 54.2 percent from the field and 60 percent from the 3-point line.

It is the fourth Freshman of the Week honor for Hardaway, who shared the award with Ohio State freshman forward Jared Sullinger on Dec. 27.

Purdue senior JaJuan Johnson won the Big Ten Player of the Week award.

They are gelling at just the right time. Play by Hardaway and Morgan is allowing Morris to play within himself and not try too hard. They look good. There's no one in the big ten tourney they cannot beat if they play their game.

@ Chad Respectfully disagree with you.".Tim and Darius really saved their coach from being fired." JB was,nt and isn't in jeopardy of being fired , After hearing Dave Brandon on the Huge show (radio wbbl) earler this month, saying if i fired John Beilein I have to find another John Beilein, and that would not be an easy task.. JB has 32 yrs experience coaching ,612 wins, formally a teacher, and heads the ethic's commitee.. The way he spreads the floor, and lets his players have some swagger, and use their style of play within the overall offensive sceme, has shown success of late.. When some big time players (NBA) sons are coming to Michigan to play for JB says alot to me..example Tim Jr, Horford,Jordon Dumars,Glen Robinson III (2012) and possibly Larry Nance son... There a reason they are coming to Michigan, and Not MSU... also Brundidge a 4 star from Mich, Burke 3 star from Ohio... are freshmen recruits next season.. Michigan BB was down because of the ED Martin scandal etc,so recruiting was out of the question at that time...Things are changing for Blue BB,and they are really exciting to watch... GO BLUE..

Tim and Darius really saved their coach from being fired. I know we our over RR but you wanna talk in state recruiting, well Michigan bball has been horrible at keeping top talent in state and at Michigan. Idk how long this can keep going but Michigan produces about 4 or 5 really good players that never find their way to Ann Arbor. Hopefully the new facilities will help keep players in our state and not at OSU(amir williams).

Blu-Dogg, Interesting question. Sullinger has won it 11 times this year for Ohio State. When I asked what the record was earlier, the Big Ten office told me they didn't do Freshman of the Week before this season...don't remember last year for sure but if that's the case, then the answer is never.

Great win this weekend, and Timmy Jr. is leading the way. Awesome! Blu-Dogg, I don't know the answer, but I am going to guess Chris Webber had more.(assuming his records are still valid with the Big Ten)

Congratulations Tim Jr. I have truly enjoyed watching you and the young Wolverines evolve , with team play, and effort all the way down the line-up !! Great job coach Beilein also, for recognizing their talents, and coaching them up,and showing them how to win those close games, the 3 point banker at the buzzer vs Wisky was a fluke.. Question for Mike Roth, has there been a freshmen at Michigan that has won the freshmen of the week honors 4 times or more in a season ? Just curious .. GO BLUE..
