Michigan coach John Beilein and junior Zack Novak discuss their win at Minnesota

By Michael Rothstein

The Michigan basketball team kept its NCAA Tournament hopes alive with a 70-63 win at Minnesota, its fourth Big Ten road victory of the season (only Ohio State has won more conference road games).

In our post-game videos, Wolverines coach John Beilein says the key to his team's success away from Crisler Arena has been its ability to limit turnovers.

Also, Zack Novak can't rank the importance of his 3-pointer with 1:32 left on Saturday, but says the whole team made big plays down stretch.

I am continually amazed by the number of people who believe that John Beilein is a "gimmicky" coach with a gimmicky offense. It is sheer utter nonsense. This is a team that despite its lack of physical talent up and down the roster wins because they play team offense and team defense with excellent technique and basketball intelligence. As Satch Sullinger (Jared's father/coach) said on the Big Ten Network's The Journey, "That John Beilein is a hell of a coach. He has got it going up in Ann Arbor. That is a team on the rise and they are going to be really good." (paraphrased) It may not be your father's basketball, but his team's grow, get better and evolve as the talent meshes the scheme. Broaden your understanding of what is possible and you may actually find yourself impressed and entertained.

I've watched this team a lot this year and the progress they've made from the start of the conference season to now is amazing. A few weeks ago they learned how to win in the Big Ten and today they may have learned how to win the close ones. Whether it's to be the NCAA or the NIT no one is going to want to play this team. Congratulatiolns!
