By AnnArbor.com Staff

Austin Hatch, the Michigan basketball recruit who is recovering from a tragic plane accident in June, was at the Breslin Center on Friday to watch Michigan State take on Hillsdale in an exhibition game.

Hatch was there to watch his friend redshirt freshman Russell Byrd, according to UMHoops.com.

A Twitpic of Hatch at the game was published by Hondo Carpenter of Spartan Nation.

Hatch, a junior at Canterbury High School in Fort Wayne, Ind., was the only survivor of a single-engine plane crash on June 24 near Charlevoix. His father and step-mother died in the crash. He was in the Munson Medical Center in Traverse City for months and returned to Fort Wayne in early October.
