Michigan basketball picks up second commit in two days in Nik Stauskas
On Friday, the Michigan basketball program picked up its final commitment for the class of 2011 when forward Max Bielfeldt chose the Wolverines over Illinois.
One day later, Michigan may have closed out 2012, as well. According to multiple recruiting websites, coach John Beilein received a non-binding verbal commitment from Nik Stauskas, a Canadian playing at St. Mark's in Southborough, Mass.
TheWolverine.com is among the sites reporting that the 6-foot-5 shooting guard selected Michigan over Kansas, Wake Forest and Iowa State.
NBEBasketball.com, which primarily covers Big East basketball, confirmed the report with Stauskas.
“Can’t go wrong with Michigan,” he told the site Saturday evening. “I fit their system perfectly and have a chance to come in and make an impact right away.”
Stauskas, a 3-star prospect according to both Scout.com and Rivals.com, joins <strong>Glenn Robinson III as part of Michigan's 2012 recruiting class.

Michigan is going to need a point guard badly, as it's likely Morris goes pro after the 2011-12 season. Their hands will be tied trying to recruit another one with no available scholarships.

So he can make a lot of layups against high school players?

Hmmm, yeah, I guess he would be making layups against high school players, since he's...a high school player. What footage were you expecting? Stauskas dunking vs the Miami Heat? Some of this footage came from the elite camps, and I guess that's the best comp you'll see on any H.S. player's highlight reel.

It's impressive that he had offers from Kansas, Wake Forest, and Butler (not mentioned in the article). I have to believe Michigan's strong finish really helped us get these two players (including Bielfeldt). I just see this program getting stronger and stronger in the next few years. Go Blue!

What's the expectations for Dumars? Is the coaching staff expecting him to be a legitimate competitor for some good playing time next year? Does anyone see him playing an important role next year?
