The former Michigan basketball captain confirmed to AnnArbor.com on Monday that he's signed a professional contract with Landstede, a Netherlands-based club that plays in the Dutch Basketball League.
Located in Zwolle, the capital city of the Dutch province Overijssel, Landstede plays in the Dutch First Division of the DBL, which is the highest pro basketball league in the Netherlands.
Novak is the second member of Michigan's 2011-12 squad to sign an overseas contract, joining fellow ex-captain Stu Douglass, who will play professionally next season in Pamplona, Spain.
A three-year captain for the Wolverines, Novak ranks third on the school's all-time start list with 122. He finished his career in fourth on Michigan's all-time 3-pointers made list with 213, and eclipsed the 1,000-point mark during his senior campaign.
Novak is one of 28 players in Michigan history to finish his career with 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

Not a bad place to be. See beautiful Europe and play basketball. Best of luck to this talented young man. He helped put some excitement back to the winters here in A2.
