The 2013 draft, though, could tell a different story.
Starting point guard Trey Burke nearly left, but eventually opted to remain in Ann Arbor for his sophomore season. Michigan also has interesting next-level prospects in Tim Hardaway Jr. and 6-foot-10 big man Mitch McGary.
Certain analysts have already started projecting next season's draft, and three Michigan players have landed on a few radars.
NBA draft expert Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress.com updated his 2013 NBA mock draft recently, slotting Burke at No. 35 overall -- five selections into the second round.
The Michigan point guard is a first-round selection according to CBSSports.com's Jeff Goodman -- but barely. Goodman has Burke going No. 30 overall, the final pick of the first round.
"Burke isn't physically imposing," Goodman wrote. "But he can shoot and excels in a ball-screen offense."
No other current members of the Michigan roster made either writer's mock draft, but both Hardaway and McGary joined Burke in ESPN analyst Chad Ford's top 100 prospects for the 2013 draft.
All three players are projected as "second round pick/undrafted" prospects.
Burke is No. 46 overall, McGary No. 54 and Hardaway No. 63.
