The Michigan hockey team continues to rack up CCHA player of the week awards.
Shawn Hunwick was named goaltender of the week on Monday for the third time this season and Lee Moffie was named defenseman of the week. Michigan has won 11 player of the week awards and five times has had multiple winners in the same week.
Fresh off of being named CCHA goaltender of the month and the Hockey Commissioner's Association national player of the month for January, Hunwick justified the selections by saving all but one of 53 shots faced in Michigan's weekend sweep of Miami. He stopped 24 shots in a 4-1 win on Friday and made 29 saves in a 3-0 shutout win on Saturday. The Hobey Baker candidate moved into fourth place in team history with his ninth career shutout.
Moffie garnered defenseman of the week mostly for his efforts on the offensive end, with an assist on Friday and a pair of goals on Saturday. He also blocked three shots on Saturday.
