Michigan's Haylie Wagner, Sara Driesenga pick up weekly Big Ten softball honors

A pair of Michigan softball players earned weekly honors from the Big Ten Conference after the Wolverines' three-game sweep of Michigan State this weekend.

Michigan freshman Haylie Wagner was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week.

Haylie Wagner was named the league's Pitcher of the Week. The freshman from Orange, Calif., did not allow a run in 13.2 innings against the Spartans, recording two wins and a save. She allowed four hits and struck out 11.

It's the fourth time Wagner has earned the weekly honor this season.

Michigan's Sara Driesenga was named the conference Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. She was the winning pitcher in the middle game of the weekend series against MSU, pitching 5 1/3 scoreless innings. She also went 3-for-5 at the plate in the series with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Penn State's Kasie Hatfield was the league's Player of the Week.
