The B1G AD Golf Challenge between the Michigan and Michigan State athletic departments hit the course for the second straight year Tuesday.

And the Spartans are 2-for-2.

MSU, led by athletic director Mark Hollis, beat Michigan AD Dave Brandon's squad 5 1/2 to 3 1/2 at the University of Michigan Golf Course.

Hollis and Brandon began the match play event in the first flight, with Hollis scoring a win on the 18th hole to grab a 1-up victory.

From there, MSU went on a roll, scoring wins in four of the first five flights.

Hollis' Michigan State squad won the inaugural event last summer near Lansing.

The event was once again competitive on the course, but featured a good-natured vibe once again throughout the day -- with both Brandon and Hollis explaining how important their continued collaboration is across the state of Michigan.

"Not only do we compete, but we also work together and there's a lot of friendships that go back and forth," Brandon said. "This is a way to bring it all together."

The match featured nine flights: Brandon vs. Hollis, Michigan men's golf coach Chris Whitten vs. MSU men's golf coach Casey Lubahn, UM women's golf coach Cheryl Stacy vs. MSU women's coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll, former UM golfers Andy Matthews and Matt Thompson vs. ex-MSU men's golfers Ryan Brehm and Jack Newman, former UM women's golfers Elaine Crosby and Ashley Bauer vs. former MSU golfers Natalie Brehm and Sara Brown, UM radio announcer Frank Beckmann vs. MSU announcer Jim Miller and UM professor Thad Polk vs. MSU professor Trey Rogers.
