The Michigan softball team matched a season-high with four home runs as it crushed Ohio State, 10-2, Friday in Columbus, Ohio.

Freshman Sara Driesenga hit solo shots to lead off the second and seventh innings while freshman catcher Lauren Sweet hit a three-run homer in a five-run third inning and junior second baseman Ashley Lane added a three-run shot in the fifth.

The Wolverines are now 9-1 this season when hitting two or more home runs, according to MGoBlue.com.

Ohio State’s two runs came on a two-run home run by Alicia Herron in the first inning of a game between the Big Ten’s second-place teams.

Michigan (25-10, 6-1) freshman pitcher Haylie Wagner would only allow four Buckeye baserunners the rest of the way. She struck out 10 batters while improving to 18-4 on the season.

The Wolverines chased Ohio State (23-12, 5-2) starter Mikayla Endicott after three innings. She allowed nine earned runs on nine hits.

With the win, Michigan climbs within a half game of league-leading Purdue (23-10, 6-0), which plays a three-game series at Indiana on Saturday and Sunday.

Michigan and Ohio State wrap up their weekend series with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. Saturday in Columbus.

Brent Ohrman was 4-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs for the Eagles (11-18, 4-3). Ott, Ben Magsig and Matt Hitt had three hits apiece.
