Michigan softball team ranked No. 1 in the country in 2 polls
The Michigan softball team is the top team in the country for the first time in five seasons.
The USA Today/NFCA and USA Softball polls gave the Wolverines, who have won six games in a row, the top spot for the first time since the preseason poll in 2006.
Michigan (39-3) received 15 of 30 first-place votes in the USA Today/NFCA poll, passing former No. 1 Arizona State in the process. In the USA Softball poll, Michigan received eight of 20 first-place votes (the Sun Devils received 11) to barely pass ASU for No. 1.
Michigan defends its top ranking Wednesday against Penn State in a doubleheader on the Big Ten Network.

Veracity......I agree, unfortunately. Hutch's program has, over the years, been one of the best kept secrets in Ann Arbor. This team is a perfect example of a very young team, growing as a unit. Are they really no1? Probably not, at this point, BUT....they have the potential, to over acheive ...IF...they can maintain their focus, stay away from distractions, and play one pitch Michigan softball. It IS a fun team to watch, and I wish them well, for the balance of the season.....Meanwhile, AA.com will concentrate on men's b-ball, football, and hockey. Great teams, but NOT the ONLY game in town......Go Blue!

Every year Michigan fields an excellent softball team and yet annarbor.com provides little coverage. This sad fact is true for other successful woman's teams as well. Why is it this way? I know that I follow all Michigan sports but have to go to mgoblue.com if I want any info on teams other than basketball and football.
