Michigan softball team beats Valparaiso, Central Florida and more Tuesday college results
The Michigan softball team extended its win streak to 17 games after picking up two wins Tuesday at the University of Central Florida Softball Complex in Orlando, Fla.
The Wolverines (17-0) defeated Valparaiso 2-1 in the first contest and followed suit with a 10-1 six-inning win over Central Florida.
Michigan’s Nicole Sappingfield had four RBIs and went 2-for-4 against Central Florida. In the first game, Sappingfield provided the walk-off run in the seventh inning after a Valparaiso error to secure the narrow win over the Crusaders.
Shortstop Amy Knapp hit 3-for-4 with three RBIs against Central Florida in a game more one-sided than the first.
Michigan’s Jordan Taylor pitched all six innings for the win, striking out nine batters and allowing one earned run. Stephanie Spierman was at the mound for the first game, and she also struck out nine batters and allowed one earned run. Both pitchers are now 8-0 this season. (MGoBlue.com Story)

Goshen College 2, Concordia University 1; Goshen 9, Concordia 1: Thomas Sperry and James Rousseau batted in the only two runs of the day for the Cardinals, as they were swept in Auburndale, Fla. Concordia and Goshen scored all three runs in the first game in the fifth inning. The Cardinals had a one-run lead after the second inning of the later game, but Goshen spread out nine runs in the final five innings for the win.
MEN'S GOLF USC Collegiate Invitational: Freshman Joey Garber led the Wolverines to a seventh-place finish with a combined one-over-par 214 at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif. Garber tied for eighth place individually. (MGoBlue.com Story)
