By Nick Baumgardner

This file was updated at 9:49 p.m. to include additional Sunday results.

Sitting in third place with two races left Sunday, the Michigan women's rowing team had little room for error.

Thankfully for the Wolverines, the final two sprints were flawless.

Michigan took home first place finishes in the first and second varsity eight races in Indianapolis to capture the program's fifth Big Ten rowing championship, beating Ohio State by two points.

It is Michigan's first Big Ten crown since 2004.

With the win, Michigan will now wait to see if it advances to the NCAA Tournament by watching the live selection show on NCAA.com at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Wolverines placed three rowers on the All-Big Ten First Team, with Julia Darnton, Emily Eiffert and Felice Mueller grabbing the honors.

Lindsey Healy and Melisa Ongun earned second team nods, while Kate Grimaldi was honored as a sportsmanship award winner.

A great day for Mark Rothstein and the women's team. Go Blue! At the same time, the men's team pulled off a similar feat at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, (there is no Big Ten Championships on the men's side of the sport,) winning both the 1st and 2nd Varsity eights races and the Men's Team Point Trophy, repeating their victories from last year with the 1V and the team. A great day for Michigan Rowing over all. Here's to both teams having just as great a day a their respective national championships in two weeks!
