ROMULUS -- Between games featuring Ann Arbor teams at the Romulus Holiday Classic Saturday, a player who will be playing in Ann Arbor next year put on a show.

Harper Woods Chandler Park guard Derrick Walton, a member of Michigan’s 2013 recruiting class, scored 38 points to lead his team to a 78-73 win over Toledo Rogers in the fourth game of the day.

Fourteen of those points came in the fourth quarter. After Rogers got within a point at 62-61, Walton scored 10 of his team’s final 16 points to seal the win.

Walton, who came into the game averaging 22 points per game through two games, has led CPA to a 3-0 start to the season.

Walton wasn’t the only future Wolverine to appear in the game. C’Sonte York, a member of Michigan football’s 2013 recruiting class as a wide receiver, plays forward for CPA.

jaypro - As the fifth-best point guard in the 2013 class, per ESPN.com, and the No. 35 prospect overall, Derrick Walton will be a welcome addition to the wolverines next year. Even if Trey Burke leaves Michigan for the NBA as expected at the end of the season, Spike Albrecht and Caris LeVert have potential to continue Michigan's success at point guard. The competition to start at point guard should be fierce next year and whoever loses may earn playing time at number two guard or even as a possible three guard tandem. Hardaway Jr. could possibly enter the NBA draft along with Burke improving the opportunities for our skilled guards. Keep the talent coming! Go Blue!

Good to see he is putting up those kind of numbers. We will need him once Trey Burke leaves after this season. BTW, the caption under the photo lists him as "forward Derrick Rogers."
