Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley is eagerly awaiting this weekend's matchup against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.

Not because the game seems like a sure-fire win for Pittsburgh, but because the game marks a homecoming of sorts for Woodley, a Saginaw native.

Woodley, who was the co-MVP of the 2006 Rose Bowl for the Wolverines, says many family members and friends will see him play for the first time since high school.

He shares thoughts about his homecoming in this week's diary found at SI.com.

As a Michigan and a Steeler fan (livin in OHIO lol) this was a dream come true to see Woodley get drafted high and to the Steelers. He should of been a #1 pick I think he better then Lawrence Timmons who was drafted in the first around by the Steelers

No big surprise the Lions passed on Woodley. Over the last 30 years, the Lions have to have the worst % in the NFL at picking good players with their high draft picks (1st-3rd rounds). It's a big reason they rarely make the playoffs and have never been in the Super Bowl. And in recent years, they've largely neglected the defensive side of the ball in the early rounds of the draft. Can it be any surprise their defense stinks so bad?
