Meandering through the maize (and blue): Back to a normal week, Rich Rodriguez to talk at 11 a.m.

By Michael Rothstein

It might be Labor Day for you across the country, but here in Ann Arbor, it's not a day off.

Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez gets going at 11 a.m. with his weekly press conference covering Notre Dame. This week should be a much different tone than last week's teary-eyed 14-minute opening statement that had little to do with football.

Winning, and time, does that.

FOOTBALL:

  • This week is a reminder for Stevie Brown how many people wanted him to go to Notre Dame, writes Mark Snyder in the Detroit Free Press.
  • Different breakdowns of the Michigan-Western Michigan game here, here and here.
  • Actress Nicole Forester is learning to be a college football fan. Her team? Michigan.
  • MVictors takes you behind the scenes of Game Day in Ann Arbor.
  • Former Michigan quarterback Ryan Mallett threw for 309 yards in his debut, writes Brandon Marcello of the Northwest Arkansas News.
  • Some questions and answers about Notre Dame, writes Eric Hansen in the South Bend Tribune.
  • Glad to see John Walters back at it covering Notre Dame. You can find his witty ways over at AOL Fanhouse. His style is definitely worth a read.
  • Former Notre Dame quarterback Blair Kiel arrested in Indianapolis.
  • Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune writes about Charlie Weis' press conference on Sunday.
  • OTHER STUFF:

  • Rachel Alexandra is the best horse in the country. Is she also the best athlete, writes Joe Drape of the New York Times.
  • Jean Jacques Taylor wonders whether or not Sam Bradford regrets coming back to Oklahoma. Bradford, the defending Heisman winner, was injured Saturday night in a loss to BYU.
