Lindy's Sports picks Eastern Michigan basketball team to repeat as MAC West champs

By Pete Cunningham

The Eastern Michigan men's basketball team won its first-ever Mid American Conference West Division title last season.

The people at Lindy's Sports don't think it will take as long for the Eagles to get No. 2 under their belts.

Eastern is tabbed to repeat as West Division champs in the Lindy's Sports College Basketball 2012-13 Preview, which is on stands now.

Lindy's staff writer Lindsey Willhite compiled the Mid-American Conference preview, which slots EMU as the predicted champion of the six-team West Division. The University of Akron was selected to win the MAC East championship.

Eastern junior forward Glenn Bryant was a preseason All-MAC second team selection. Bryan sat out last year after transferring from Arkansas. In two years at Arkansas he averaged 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds.

Last season, Eastern went 14-18 and lost in the first-round of the MAC Tournament in coach Rob Murphy's first year.

Sure, but wining the west means that they will be the 5th best team in the conference at best....you know, the same as finishing last in the east. But the coach will get some bonuses. Damn, he has a nice contract.
