Greenhills School senior-to-be Kasey Gardiner made short work of the 18-under field at the prestigious USTA/Midwest Section Closed Junior Championship held last week in Indianapolis.
Gardiner, the No. 3 seed at the event, did not lose a set while winning seven matches. She won the championship when No. 4 seed Madeline Lipp of Lake Forest, Ill., withdrew because of illness.
By winning the event, Gardiner is automatically included in the section quota for the USTA Boys’ and Girls’ 12, 14, 16, and 18 National Championships this August.
