Michigan and South Carolina fans were treated to some sun and sand on the shoreline of Clearwater, Fla. Marching bands from both schools performed along with team cheerleaders, a tug-o-war and a pie eating contest. Photojournalist Melanie Maxwell was on hand to capture the day.

Clearwater has the most beautiful white sand beaches. At first I thought it was snow in these pictures, but then remembered those beaches and that it has not got that cold down there...yet.

You could get similar pictures on the shores of Lake Michigan, although the white stuff would not be sand today!
