Ypsilanti's Tiffany Porter wins bronze for Great Britain at track world championships
Associated Press
Porter was born and raised in Ypsilanti, but competes internationally for Great Britain, where her mother, Lillian Ofili, is from. She is married to Jeff Porter, who was also an All-American sprinter at Michigan and competed for the United States at last year's Olympics.
She ran a personal best of 12.55 seconds to take third place on Saturday.

The third place finish was one spot higher than Porter's 2011 performance. Porter ran in the 2012 London Olympics, but fell one heat shy of the medal round. Porter was ahead for the majority of Saturday's race before being overtaken by American Brianna Rollins (who took first) and Australian Sally Pearson, last year's Olympic champion in the event.
Porter expressed her excitement about her finish via Twitter shortly after Saturday's race.
"Thanks soooo much for the kind tweets guys!! I am over the moon right now. Even though I got bronze I feel like I won gold! God is faithful!" Porter wrote.

Congratulations, Tiffany. Great to see your persistence pay off. Now don't forget to put that PharmD to good use ;)

For those unfamiliar with what squidlover is referring to, Porter received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Michigan last year. Yes, in the same year that she competed in the Olympics and a year after marrying a fellow Olympian. Just another subtle reminder that Tiffany is better at just about everything than most people are at anything.
