Washtenaw County stars crushed in their final high school football game

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Eight Washtenaw County football players were on the losing end of the most lopsided Michigan High School Football Coaches Association All-Star Game in its 32-year history.

The West All-Stars beat their East counterparts 59-7 on Saturday at Bahlke Field at Alma College. It's the most points scored in the game and the largest margin of victory.

West quarterback Cooper Rush from Lansing Catholic completed 10 of 12 passes for 241 passing yards and four touchdowns, including a 95-yard pass to Flint Carman-Ainsworth's Shane Barron.

The West outgained the East, 461-78, during the game.

Dexter quarterback Mike Mioduszewski completed 4 of 9 passes for 18 yards for the East team. He also lost 10 yards on two rush attempts.

Huron's Parish Thomas gained nine yards on five rush attempts and caught one pass.

Milan's Tory Martinsen caught one pass for five yards, helping to set up the East's only score. Saline kicker Dylan Mulder kicked the extra point.

Father Gabriel Richard fullback Nick Pauze rushed twice for two yards.

Chelsea linebacker Truman Hadley, Willow Run defensive back Nyshaun Marks and Ypsilanti defensive lineman Adam Smith each made three tackles for the East.

It is interesting that recently the powerhouses in high school athletics have largely come from the west side of the state. Sort of mirroring the economic sea change that has occurred here as well.

its an all star game. isn't the point to have fun and highlight the best players in the state. I don't care who you are cheering for, 59-7 is not a fun game to watch. Even if it's U of M vs MSU, I'd be out by the end of the 3rd quarter.
