The Father Gabriel Richard High School student body waited a long time to welcome its boys basketball team to The Green House.

And for three quarters of their home opener against Warren DeLaSalle, the No. 5-ranked team in Class A, the Fighting Irish had their costumed and face-painted supporters rollicking in the aisles.

By the end of the fourth, however, the scene was significantly more solemn.

The 7-0 Pilots outscored Gabriel Richard 17-2 in the final quarter on their way to a 45-33 win.

By the end of the eight-minute stretch that coach Pete Schoch succinctly called "really awful," all the Irish (1-4) had to show for themselves in the stat book was one offensive putback, six missed 3-pointers and two missed free throws. (Rest of the Story & Photo Gallery | Boxscore)
