Saline takes fourth in D1 state finals, Emily White all-state and more golf results

The Saline High School girls golf team didn’t successfully defend its state title, but the Hornets had a strong showing and finished in fourth place at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University with a team score of 745.

Pioneer (804) finished in 11th out of 15 teams after the two-day tournament ended on Saturday.

Saline sophomore Emily White took fifth place as an individual at the Division 1 state finals. Saline took fourth as a team.

Grosse Pointe South (692) won the event.

Saline sophomore Emily White took home individual all-state honors, finishing in fifth place with a two-day total of 165. Sloane Supica was Pioneer’s top finisher with a score of 179. Huron’s Madison Smith, playing as an individual qualifier, shot 211. (Complete results)

At the Division 4 finals at Forest Akers East in East Lansing, Greenhills School took ninth place and Gabriel Richard finished 11th. Annie Aldrich started Day 2 six shots off the lead and finished tied for 10th place to earn all-state honors. Aspen Sims was Richard’s top finisher, six strokes out of the top ten. At the Division 2 finals at Katke-Cousins Golf Course at Oakland University, Dexter’s Mary So, competing as an individual qualifier, shot a 176, nine strokes out of the top ten. (Complete results)
