Pioneer's Katie Leite highlights Washtenaw County bowlers at individual state championships

Pioneer High School's Katie Leite was the only Washtenaw County bowler to advance to the round of 16 at MHSAA individual bowling championships held around the state Saturday.

Leite, in 15th place after qualifying rounds at the Division 1 tournament, was eliminated by Sarah Lokker of New Baltimore Anchor Bay, 378-319, at M-66 Bowl in Battle Creek.

On the boys side of Division 1, Saline's Nicholas Tillman finished in 54th place with a 994 total.

Ypsilanti's Tom Reynolds finished 28th (1,195) in Division 2.

In Division 3 boys, Father Gabriel Richard's Justin Goike and Mike Goike finished in 31st (1,095) and 35th (1,084), respectively. The Fighting Irish won a Division 3 team state title on Friday.
