By AnnArbor.com Staff

When the Pioneer High School boys basketball entered the gym Bedford High School on Tuesday, they sat alone atop the Southeastern Conference Red division standings.

By the time they left they were in a three-way tie.

The Kicking Mules defeated Pioneer 64-41. With Huron defeating Skyline 78-54, the Pioneers, Kicking Mules and River Rats all have identical 8-2 conference records with two games left to play apiece.

Huron and Bedford play each other at Bedford on Feb. 28.

“I give Bedford a lot of credit. It was a must-win for them in terms of winning the conference,” Pioneer coach Rex Stanczak said. “They came out in the second half and smacked us around. (Story | Boxscore)
