Brown has been an assistant coach at Chelsea High School since 2009. He was defensive coordinator at Huron High School from 2004-2009 and was an assistant at Lincoln High School in 2003.

Brown played at Eastern Michigan from 1999-2002 and was captain in 2002. He currently works as a Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department Corrections Officer and is pursuing his teaching certificate at Eastern.

Brown replaces Paul Test who resigned in December in the aftermath of a brawl that broke out following the team's game with cross-town rival Huron. Huron coach Cory Gildersleeve also resigned in the weeks following the brawl.

Test retires with a 16-7 record in two seasons (3-2 postseason), two Southeastern Conference Red Division titles, and a 2011 district title. His team this year advanced to the district finals before falling to Saline.
