Brown has been an assistant coach at Chelsea High School since 2009. He was defensive coordinator at Huron High School from 2004-2009 and was an assistant at Lincoln High School in 2003.

Brown played at Eastern Michigan from 1999-2002 and was captain in 2002. He currently works as a Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department Corrections Officer and is pursuing his teaching certificate at Eastern.

Brown replaces Paul Test who resigned in December in the aftermath of a brawl that broke out following the team's game with cross-town rival Huron. Huron coach Cory Gildersleeve also resigned in the weeks following the brawl.

Test retires with a 16-7 record in two seasons (3-2 postseason), two Southeastern Conference Red Division titles, and a 2011 district title. His team this year advanced to the district finals before falling to Saline.

There wasn't much talent this year either as there were no players from Huron or Pioneer who signed with anyone on signing day.

Demetrius Sims was a good football player for Huron, he is playing baseball at Bethune-Cookman and signed during the early signing period. Former Pioneer players Dewan Olive-Abinojar (defensive back) will likely land at a Division 1 school though he did not sign on signing day (not everyone does) and Erik Kristensen (kicker) will likely end up playing in college as well. There was talent on that field.

Hmmmm. Eager to see how this plays out. I'm curious as to why the guy didn't get the Huron job. He coached there in the past. They must know something.

my point is that he coached there for a few years and also tried to get the job at Huron but they didn't select him. something seems odd about that.

I would lean towards him knowing something about Huron.

Jari is a very intelligent man, so maybe he knows something about Huron and Pioneer gave him a better offer... Hmmm?

I just became a fan of Pioneer Football! Coach Brown is an excellent coach and a fantastic addition for PiHi. I have followed him since his days at Huron. He did a great job with the kids there and was solid at Chelsea.

Paul Test replaced Chuck Lori at Pioneer as head coach in 1991 and coached to 1994, with (I think) a 22-16 record.
