Milan High School head football coach Steve Robb has stepped down after 25 years on the job. According to an e-mail from Milan athletic director David Kaiser, Robb communicated his intention to resign on Thursday.

Kaiser said Robb resigned in order to spend more time with his family and support his children as they embark on their own athletic endeavors.

In 25 years as coach at Milan, Robb’s teams compiled a 163-82 record, had 19 winning seasons and made 12 playoff appearances. In 1999, the MHSAA expanded its playoff participation to include all teams that won six or more games. If that rule had been in place earlier, Robb’s teams would have made the playoffs 18 times during his tenure.

Robb could not immediately be reached for comment.
