The Manchester High School wrestling team advanced to the Division 4 MHSAA state semifinals on Friday after defeating Constantine, 35-21, at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.

The Flying Dutchmen (28-2) will face three-time defending state champions Hudson at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Hudson (25-2) defeated Holton, 58-7, in its quarterfinal on Friday. (Story | Boxscore)

Manchester led Constantine for much of the dual, but after the Falcons' Phil Vanzile defeated Henry Arborgast 7-3 in the 189-pound match, Constantine trailed just 26-21 heading into the final two matches.

Brian Robert put the match away for Manchester with a second period pin at 215 pounds. (Story | Boxscore | Division 4 Bracket )

Manchester was eliminated by Hudson in last year's semifinal round.

"We've been up here five out of the last six years and I keep telling my kids, if you want to be a state champion, you have to beat (Hudson) some time or another," Manchester coach Steve Vlcek said. "It's a very tall task but we will see tomorrow."
