Rex Stanczak walked over to the scorer's table before tip-off Tuesday night to make an adjustment to his roster.

"We have one addition," the Pioneer High School boys basketball coach said. "Number 32 is James Kelly."

It was the last time anyone in the Pioneer gymnasium could have possibly been unaware of the 6-foot, 7-inch, 226-pound junior's presence.

In just his second game of eligibilitiy for the Pioneers, Kelly scored a game-high 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting in just 15 minutes on the floor in a 62-55 win over Lincoln.

"He's just an outstanding athlete and gives us a true big guy," Stanczak said. "Some of our other bigs, they do a heck of a job, but they're undersized bigs, and he's a true 6-7 he combines that athleticism and has that basketball skill and he's just learning he's just scratching the surface."
