Lincoln and Huron football game selected as 'Friday Football Frenzy' game of week

By Pete Cunningham

The Lincoln High School football team and its fans are already in a frenzy for tonight’s game against Huron High School.

The Railsplitters faithful filled the home-side bleachers for a 6 a.m. pep rally this morning after being selected as the "Friday Football Frenzy" game of the week at ClickOnDetroit.com.

Broadcast on Channel 4 (WDIV) during this morning’s 6 a.m. newscast, reporter Lauren Fodell exclaimed, “The next school’s got some stiff competition. The Railsplitters brought it this morning,” as the team and fans cheered loudly in the background.

The team received more than 4,000 online votes and “blew away the competition,” in the online voting, according to Fodell.

Highlights from the game will be featured on Channel 4's 11 p.m. broadcast and be posted at ClickOnDetroit.com. AnnArbor.com will have a game report and a photo slideshow from the game, which kicks off at 7 p.m.

“This is only our second Football Frenzy of the 2011 season, but I have to tell you, the Ypsilanti Lincoln Railsplitters have set the standard,” Fodell said during the broadcast. “This is a great team. They’ve got great spirit.”
