Latwan Wesley, Lincoln boys rout Monroe in Class A district
Lincoln High School boys basketball coach Mike Foley knows something about his senior guard Latwan Wesley that opposing coaches don't, but may soon find out.
"Latwan Wesley is a post-season player. He is a Post. Season. Player," emphasized Foley.
So when Wesley proved just that, pouring in a game-high 18 points to lead Lincoln to a 64-42 win over Monroe in a Class A district opener at Saline High School, "It didn't surprise me," said Foley, quipping, "I'm not going to have a parade because he played well. I expect him to play well."
Wesley sparked Lincoln midway through the first quarter after the Railsplitters, trailing 10-5, took a timeout after clustering five turnovers in the first five minutes.
"I don't think our heads were even into the game," admitted Foley. "When we woke up after I called a timeout, then we were able to establish ourselves on the defensive end. And defense brings offense, and we were pretty successful at doing that tonight."
