Scout.com reported Tuesday that Iowa rescinded its scholarship offer for Edwards, citing a text message from Edwards’ father, Stan Edwards.
The school said if Edwards “didn’t choose Iowa by now, he wasn’t coming,” according to Stan Edwards.
According to the site, Edwards’ has two other offers from BCS conference programs: California and Minnesota. But the situation at Cal also got more complicated Tuesday, when the school fired its head coach, Jeff Tedford.
Edwards has seven other offers, all from MAC schools.
As a senior, Edwards rushed for 1,329 yards and 21 touchdowns in the regular season and helped lead the Bulldogs from an 0-3 start to their 15th consecutive playoff appearance. In two years as the Bulldogs’ starter, Edwards has 2,849 yards and 39 touchdowns.
