Iowa pulls scholarship offer for Chelsea's Berkley Edwards
Chelsea High School running back Berkley Edwards has one fewer option when choosing his college destination.
Scout.com reported Tuesday that Iowa rescinded its scholarship offer for Edwards, citing a text message from Edwards’ father, Stan Edwards.
The school said if Edwards “didn’t choose Iowa by now, he wasn’t coming,” according to Stan Edwards.
According to the site, Edwards’ has two other offers from BCS conference programs: California and Minnesota. But the situation at Cal also got more complicated Tuesday, when the school fired its head coach, Jeff Tedford.
Edwards has seven other offers, all from MAC schools.
As a senior, Edwards rushed for 1,329 yards and 21 touchdowns in the regular season and helped lead the Bulldogs from an 0-3 start to their 15th consecutive playoff appearance. In two years as the Bulldogs’ starter, Edwards has 2,849 yards and 39 touchdowns.

Stan needs to learn to keep your mouth shut. Why would you say something that limited your child's opportunities in life. Did they even go visit Iowa. I know they down this year, but Iowa is a great football program and a wonderful school. It's definitely a lot better than the MAC options.

Oh girl! Read my comment again. Even the partial quote that I put in clearly states that the text came from Stanley Edwards which is exactly what I was saying. What the heck are you talking about? Slow down and read the comments and think about what they are saying before you reply condescendingly.

Oh, boys, please learn how to read and comprehend. It states, very clearly, that Scout.com cited a text from Edward's father, not Iowa. @Jackson, if you are going to use quotes, use the entire quote if a partial one will change the meaning, as our usage certainly did. You left off the "Scout.com, making it appear to be from Iowa, which i was not. Oh, so silly.

Section six and Robert Granville, I must not have understood what I just read either where it clearly says that, "... Iowa rescinded its scholarship offer for Edwards, citing a text message from Edwards' father, Stan Edwards." How was Iowa's rescinding the offer not caused by his father's actions?

You clearly did not understand what you just read. Stan didn't say anything to the Iowa staff according to this report.

I, for one, hope he gets a Michigan offer before NSD. Who says he doesn't grow another inch and fill in to a decent back or corner? Stranger offers have gone out.... and he's a legacy.

He's a legend in his families mind. Not real impressive as a high schooler. Walks to his own beat...
