Class: Senior
Notable: After being named second team All-State for the state tournament and the season as a junior, Huron’s Jamie Hibbs was determined to become a better player as an individual by making those around her better. Hibbs did exactly that as a senior, scoring 91 goals and dishing out 28 assists to lead Huron to a 42-4 record and all the way to a state runner-up finish. She was named first-team All-State for the tournament and season not just because of gaudy numbers (she had a direct hand in more than 30 percent of Huron’s 394 goals), but for her willingness to spread the wealth. “She possesses a wonderful work ethic and that rubs off on her teammates. She could have easily scored more goals through out the season but she knew getting her teammates involved would pay dividends in the long run,” said Huron coach Justin Thoresen. Hibbs came through in big games for her team, scoring four goals in a state quarterfinal game, a goal and an assist in the state final and regional championship games. Hibbs will play for Bucknell next year, an NCAA Division I varsity program.
Player of the Year schedule:
- Tuesday: Boys track and field, girls track and field
- Wednesday: Girls soccer, boys golf
- Thursday: Boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse
- Friday: Girls water polo, girls tennis
- Sunday: Baseball, softball
