High school roundup: Saline wins SEC Red baseball title and more Thursday results

The Saline High School baseball team wrapped up a Southeastern Conference Red Division championship with a doubleheader sweep of second-place Huron on Thursday.

The Hornets got a pair of complete-game wins, including a two-hitter from Justin Goike during a 7-0 win in the opening game. Brent Vaccaro went the distance in Saline’s 7-3 win in the second game.

In the first game, Saline scored in each of the first three innings - including a solo home run by Trent Theisen - to take a 4-0 lead. The Hornets put the game away with a three-run rally in the seventh.

In the second game, Theisen added RBIs during the Hornets’ two-run fourth inning and their four-run fifth inning. Huron’s Demetrius Smith went 3-for-4.
