Chelsea boys basketball team wins, girls lose; Pioneer diver Nick Nemetz sets record and more Thursday results
The Adrian boys basketball team entered Thursday night’s game at Chelsea High School in the basement of the Southeastern Conference standings. Despite the Maples’ less than stellar record, the Bulldogs knew not to take them lightly based on the teams’ first meeting, in which Adrian was 11-of-16 from 3-point range and fell just short of a fourth quarter comeback.
To avoid such a hot-streak from even starting, Chelsea coach Robin Raymond had his team run a full court press and set the defensive intensity.
“Our goal going into the game was we really wanted to set a tempo from the defensive end,” Raymond said.
The Bulldogs (11-5, 7-5 SEC White) did exactly that, forcing 14 turnovers and taking a 29-7 lead into halftime.
The Bulldogs went on to win 50-35 in a game Raymond said his team played “as hard as we've played all year.”
