Greenhills, Father Gabriel Richard tennis teams advance to state finals
The girls tennis teams from Greenhills School and Father Gabriel Richard both advanced to the MHSAA Division 4 state championships on Thursday.
Tournament host Greenhills tied Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central with 24 points at a regional tournament, earning an automatic berth to the state finals.
Gabriel Richard also advanced by scoring 21 points.
The finals will be played June 1-2 in Holland.
Greenhills' champions were Kasey Gardiner (No. 1 singles), Colleen O'Brien (No. 2 singles), Corrine Gardner (No. 4 singles) and the No. 1 doubles team of Sarah McIntosh and Rae Schueller. (Complete results)
Surina Sood won the No. 3 singles flight for Gabriel Richard. The Fighting Irish also had finalists in three other flights.
