Father Gabriel Richard football team to fill final vacant spot in Big Day Prep Showdown VII

By Pete Cunningham

Father Gabriel Richard is the fourth Washtenaw County high school football team to be added to the Big Day Prep Showdown VII lineup.

Detroit Sports, which puts on the annual kickoff to the high school football season at Eastern Michigan's Rynearson Stadium, announced that Gabriel Richard will play Lake Fenton at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27. It's a rematch of last year's season opener between the teams, which Gabriel Richard won 26-24.

Gabriel Richard went on to finish 10-2, advancing to a Division 5 quarterfinal. Lake Fenton finished 3-6.

Skyline, Chelsea and Manchester were all previously-announced participants at the event. The addition of Gabriel Richard means a Washtenaw County team will now play on each day of the three-day event.
