Dexter boys take down Lincoln in SEC opener
Coming off of an emotional win over Willow Run on Tuesday, the Lincoln High School boys basketball team seemed poised to start its Southeastern Conference schedule on the right foot.
But Lincoln was sans senior starters Nate Schmidt and KeAndre Taylor, the team's leading scorer, on Friday and looked out of sync all night in a 62-43 loss to Dexter.
"We had just got our chemistry in the Willow Run game and we lose Nate Schmidt to an ankle injury and KeAndre Taylor, violation of school conduct rules, we lost him to school suspension and I think it mentally destroyed my other players," said Lincoln coach Mike Foley. "We weren't able to overlook their absence when we should have."
The Railsplitters missed their first seven shots of the game, and only made a single basket in the first quarter, a 3-pointer by Latwan Wesley in the final minute, as Dexter (5-1, 1-0 SEC White) jumped to a 12-3 lead after one. (Rest of the Story | Boxscore)
