Chelsea's season ends with 31-3 loss at Battle Creek Harper Creek
The 2010 season never quite clicked, never quite came together the way that the Chelsea High School football program is used to seeing things come together.
Now, the season is laid to rest for the Bulldogs, after a 31-3 loss at Battle Creek Harper Creek in the first round of the playoffs Friday night. It is Chelsea’s earliest playoff exit since 2005.
Chelsea lost three games in the regular season by a total of 10 points, but the final playoff loss was a convincing one, as the Beavers rushed for 323 yards, and held Chelsea to just 89 yards of total offense.
“Harper Creek is a darn good team,” Chelsea coach Brad Bush said. “When I had a chance to see them on film, I knew we would have to play our best game to win and we didn’t play our best game.”
The loss was a capper to a season that never quite went as planned for the Bulldogs.
“I don’t know that we ever put it together this year like we typically have,” Bush said. “We just never quite hit on all cylinders.”
