Shianne Butler helped lead the Chelsea offense, totaling 11 kills and 16 digs. Mary Kelleher was the leading setter with 36 assists in contribution. Rylee Rosentreeter added seven kills and 18 digs.
"It was a very exciting match; it was very tightly contested," Chelsea coach Laura Cleveland said. "We matched up against Onsted three times previously, and then met again tonight in the district final. We passed very well and hit with a high efficiency and were able to really maintain our momentum throughout the entire match."
Onsted claimed a 25-20 win in the second set but was unable to gain any real momentum.
"We were very familiar with (Onsted) as a team, and we knew it was going to be a good match," Cleveland said. "They played well defensively. We were hitting well and they made a lot of great digs and saves on their side."
Chelsea is now at 30-19-4 overall and will face Eaton Rapids at 5:00 PM on Tuesday for the regional tournament.
Temperance Bedford’s Nichole Rightnowar and Kayla Gwozda each had 11 kills, Sophia Marciniak added 10 kills, and Ellen Hays had 30 digs.
“We played very well,” Bedford coach Jodi Manore said, “We only had three hitting errors as a team for the entire match.”
