Marty Jeppesen is the best amateur golf in Washtenaw County. Now the former Eastern Michigan golfer and Saline High School graduate will try life as a professional golfer.

Jeppesen had 11 birdies and one eagle Saturday as he shot two rounds of 67 at Barton Hills Country Club to win the Washtenaw Golf Association Championship by five shots. The event was limited to the top 12 county golfers based on a points system for play in national, state and local competition.

Jeppesen plans to compete on the North Carolina Hooters’ Tour this fall and on a Florida mini tour in the winter. He won the Golf Association of Michigan title in August by three shots and competed in the U.S. Amateur.
